Baku Engineering University (BEU) and the first territorial party organization of Baku Engineering University (BEU) of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) have jointly organized an event dedicated to the 99th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. 

After a minute of silence in the dear memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. 

Later, a short film featuring the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev, who left indelible marks on the fate and history of the Azerbaijani people, was demonstrated. 

In his opening speech, BEU Rector, Professor Havar Mammadov noted the importance of the event dedicated to the 99th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who devoted his life to the establishment and development of Independent Azerbaijan. Speaking in detail about the multifaceted activities of the Great Leader, the Rector brought to the attention of the event participants that during the leadership of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, he saved our people from the harsh and hard experiences of the time, and revival occurred in all the spheres of the people’s socio-political as well as cultural life.

Havar Mammadov touched upon the main points of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev's intensive activity during 1969-1982. He noted that during the rule of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the country's construction work expanded, great successes were achieved in the economy, industry and agriculture, industrial enterprises, cultural and educational institutions, medical institutions were built. Furthermore, decisive steps were taken to train national personnel, and more than 15,000 young Azerbaijanis were sent to study at prestigious universities in the Soviet Union.

Underlining that the foundation of present-day independent Azerbaijan was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Rector touched upon that our country went through a rapid path of development during the presidency of Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor of the Great Leader. He added that under the leadership of Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army restored the country's territorial integrity, historical justice and international law.

At the end of his speech, Havar Mammadov stressed the significance of teaching the legacy of the great personality Heydar Aliyev to future generations.

Abdin Farzaliyev, the head of Absheron District Executive Power, pointed out Great Leader Heydar Aliyev's great care for the youth. Mentioning that youth policy has been implemented in Azerbaijan since 1994, A.Farzaliyev highlighted that the first forum of independent Azerbaijani youth was held on February 2, 1996 at the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Since then, great work has been done to determine the direction of youth policy.

He emphasized that our worthy soldiers rallied around the Iron Fist of Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, who fulfilled the will of the National Leader, and destroyed the myth of the invincible and indestructible Armenian fascist army within 44 days. The Head of Executive Power underlined that the victory was based on the continuation of the policy established by the National Leader, the strength of the military base of independent Azerbaijan and the education of our youth in the spirit of patriotism. Abdin Farzaliyev also added that the country's leadership was taking continuous measures for the social protection of the families of our martyrs and veterans.

He recalled that many international events were organized in Shusha today, including the “Khari bulbul” Music Festival, the Congress of World Azerbaijanis (Victory Congress), and the First International Culinary Festival. Moreover, A.Farzaliyev spoke in detail about the construction of airports in Fuzuli and Zangilan and the reconstruction of our liberated cities and villages 

MP, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Musa Gasimli noted that the foundations for the state independence of Azerbaijan were laid during the rule of Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state, and cited the historical facts to support his opinions. He said that after Azerbaijan regained its independence in 1991, the important issues facing the state were to protect and promote state independence, stop the Armenian aggression, find the way to develop the country, and save the country from civil war and disintegration. MP spoke about the achievement of a ceasefire during the rule of the National Leader, who adequately dealt with the abovementioned issues, and the signing of "The Contract of the Century" that was the foundation of the development of our country. He stressed that Heydar Aliyev was the first statesman who turned oil into a national treasure.

Emphasizing that the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was a period of strengthening power in Azerbaijan, MP underlined that the modernization of Azerbaijan, as well as the creation of a state that met new challenges, were being successfully implemented by President Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor of the far-sighted policy of the Great Leader.

The event was also attended by the chairman of the NAP Absheron district organization Abbas Aliyev.

Afterwards, BEU and the first territorial party organization of NAP BEU awarded students who distinguished for their fruitful activities in the social life of the University.

The event continued with the feature part by the amateur artistic group of the University.
