Employees of Baku Engineering University (BEU) have taken an active part in the project "Establishment of Rectors’ Conference in Azerbaijan". The event was organized by Baku Business University, the winner of the grant competition on Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education and the project coordinator within the European Commission's Erasmus + KA2 program.

 BEU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Hamzaga Orujov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Associate Professor Elchin Suleymanov, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Bayram Huseynzada, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Associate Professor Huseyn Mirzayev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Associate Professor Mayis Azizov, Head of the International Relations and Project Management Department Arif Najimov, Head of the Education Department Ramil Hajiyev, Head of the Graduate Studies and Doctoral Department, Professor Mahir Bashirov, and Director of the Distance Education and Quality Assurance Center Jamil Mammadov participated in the event.

The event was attended by the administration of the Ministry of Education, Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, the administration and authorized representatives of the Magna Chart observatory group, the European University Association, the France İnternational Education Center, the  European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) of Belgium, National Erasmus + Azerbaijan Office, the Ministry of Education Quality Assurance Agency, administration and authoritative members of the Rectors' Conference of Spain, Poland, France, Portugal, Lithuania, Finland, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors and deputies of the U.S., Poland, France, and Lithuania Embassies accredited in our country, as well as by the academic staff of Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Mykolas Romeris University(Lithuania) that were members of the project consortium, and the Rectors and executives of 15 Azerbaijani universities and other guests.

Rector of Baku Business University, Professor Ibad Abbasov, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, Project Coordinator Gulshan Bayramova, Head of National Erasmus + Azerbaijan Office Parviz Bagirov, Head of Delation of  European Union in Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas, European University Association, Representatives of the Conference of Rectors of Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal and Spain shared their useful ideas and experiences on the project.

The event continued with a seminar dedicated to the discussion of the project's work for 36 months and the preparation of documents required from partners. A.Najimov, Head of the International Relations and Project Management Department of BEU, took an active part in the seminar and made some effective proposals that will have a positive impact on the implementation of the project.

The seminar also heard proposals from representatives of other local and foreign partners.

The event ended with the formation of various working groups, as well as a detailed discussion of the project action plan.

It should be noted that the main goal of the project to be implemented in 2021-2023 is to develop a national network and cooperation between universities and other partner institutions by establishing a conference of rectors in accordance with national development strategies. The list of project partners includes 15 universities from Azerbaijan, including BEU, as well as French, Swedish, Belgian, Lithuanian, Polish universities and rectors' conferences (councils).
