Kanan Shikhaliyev, an employee of Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of Baku Engineering University (BEU), pursues his doctoral degree at the University of South Carolina, USA. The amount of the annual scholarship given to K. Shikhaliyev by the university is 45 thousand US dollar.

He conducts research on catalysts and reaction kinetics during his university studies, as well as works as a research student at the Center for Strategic Approaches to the Generation of Electricity. 

Emphasizing his future goals, Kanan noted that his dream was to return to his homeland after completing his education and make his contribution to the field of science and education of Azerbaijan by applying the knowledge and skills he gained in practice.

Of note, K. Shikhaliyev, who finished his bachelor's degree in 2010-2015, completed his master's degree in 2016-2018 at the University of Science, Malaysia.
