An event dedicated to February 21 - International Mother Language Day has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
The event, which began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, commemorated the dear memory of our martyrs with a minute of silence, followed by a video on International Mother Language Day.
Delivering an opening speech at the event, which took place with the close participation of the "One Volunteer" student organization, BEU Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Bayram Huseynzada emphasized the historical services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the protection, comprehensive development of our native language and finding a way into the system of international relations. Moreover, the Vice-Rector drew attention to the important steps taken towards the unrestricted use and development of the Azerbaijani language in all spheres of society after the restoration of our independence, various decrees and orders signed, and relevant state commissions established.
The head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy of the Education Faculty of the University, Professor Tarana Hajiyeva touched upon issues such as the stages of development of our language, the various pressures it was exposed to in this process, the impact of globalization and scientific and technological progress, as well as various factors on the language. Speaking about the ideology of Azerbaijaniism, which is the ideology of national statehood, the head of the department also highlighted the main factors such as the preservation of the purity of our language, its enrichment, eternal preservation and transmission to future generations, along with other national and spiritual values.
Writer-playwright, translator Eyyub Giyas noted in his report that our language is one of the purest and richest languages in the world. He shared his views on the wide possibilities of the Azerbaijani language, especially in translation processes, the style of expression of the language in works, etc. He also gave his recommendations to the students on the preservation of our native language.
Following the speeches, the event continued with an artistic part performed by university students.
