BEU and Police Academy sign cooperation agreement

A delegation led by Chief of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Police Major-General Nazim Aliyev has visited Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Rector of BEU, Professor Havar Mammadov informed the guests about the establishment of BEU, its activities and the existing faculties of the University. The Rector spoke about the importance of the meeting with the Police Academy, which was the only educational institution in a specific field, and praised the start of teaching "Information Security" at the Academy this year. Moreover, the rector touched upon possible areas of cooperation between the two universities, and added the need to expand relations between higher education institutions that trained specialists in order to increase theoretical knowledge in the field of information security and the fight against cybercrime.

Chief of the Police Academy Nazim Aliyev spoke in detail about the history, activities and structure of the University. Emphasizing the importance of relations between BEU and the Police Academy, N.Aliyev stressed the need for specialists with computer engineering and programming knowledge, and to further increase the knowledge of specialists serving our state in the field of information security. Noting that BEU had a high material and technical base and human resources in the field of information technology, N.Aliyev stressed the significance of joint cooperation.

Other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.

Then, 3rd year students of BEU majoring in System Engineering made a presentation on "What is artificial intelligence?", "OpenCv and applications", "Face and emotion recognition", as well as programs used to prevent cybercrime.

Later, BEU and Police Academy signed an agreement to develop cooperation in education and research.

The document provided support for the existing opportunities for education and research, as well as exchange of experience in the field of culture for students and faculty. Thus, in accordance with the agreement, information will be exchanged, joint meetings, symposiums, seminars, conferences and other events will be organized to ensure the training process and research activities. In addition, it is planned to cooperate in the development and implementation of projects, curricula (undergraduate, graduate and PhD) in academic research and other fields, as well as to lead joint scientific research in the field of PhD.

After the signing ceremony, the guests got acquainted with the activities of ICT and Computer laboratories at the University.
