BEU and Beijing University of Chemical Technology sign agreement on 2+2 Double Degree Program

An agreement on a 2+2 double degree program has been signed between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Beijing University of Chemical Technology of the People's Republic of China.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held in online format, Rector Yagub Piriyev drew attention to the friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and China, located on the ancient Silk Road. Moreover, he noted that the meetings between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping determine the directions of future development of bilateral relations, and our countries successfully cooperate in the fields of economy, culture and education.

Yagub Piriyev highly appreciated the agreement reached with the world-leading BUCT on the implementation of a double degree program in the specialty "Chemical Engineering" based on the 2+2 model. He noted that this is the first double degree program to be implemented at the undergraduate level between Azerbaijani and Chinese universities and will make a significant contribution to the relations in the field of education of the two countries.

Tan Tianwei, rector of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, expressed his belief that the double degree program would serve the development of cooperation in the field of education between Azerbaijan and China, which have ancient friendly relations. The rector highlighted the existence of cooperation of BUCT, established in 1958 and subordinate to the Ministry of Education of China, with universities in 63 countries, noting that they attach special importance to the relations established with BEU. He also added that they were interested in expanding cooperation with BEU in other directions.  

According to the agreement, students who successfully complete the 1st and 2nd years of the “Chemical Engineering” specialty at BEU, after passing the relevant procedures, will be able to study in the 3rd and 4th years of the “Chemical Engineering and Technology” specialty at BUCT.

The issues arising from the agreement, including the development of cooperation in other areas, teacher and student exchange, and etc. were reviewed at the signing ceremony.
