The new ranking list of world universities (QS World University Rankings 2026) has been announced. Baku Engineering University (BEU) has made significant progress in the ranking list of higher education institutions covering countries around the world. BEU, which entered the first TOP 1000 in the world in the list, has advanced 550 places compared to last year and is in the range of 901-950.
This important result achieved by BEU is not only a first in the history of the university, but also indicates the development of the higher education system of our country as a whole. In recent years, important steps have been taken at BEU to strengthen scientific potential, rebuild infrastructure, ensure that education and management meet modern standards, as well as strengthen international relations and recognize quality indicators on a global scale. At the same time, cooperation with industry and the private sector has been continued on a broader scale in order to achieve significant progress in providing graduates with jobs. At the same time, important work has been carried out to ensure accessibility to scientific databases, improve the quantitative and qualitative indicators of scientific results, and increase the number of articles in reputable scientific journals. Positive dynamics have also been observed in the number of foreign students at BEU over the past year. The number of foreign students has increased 4 times, and the number of countries represented by foreign students has reached 28.
All this, as well as purposeful activities in supporting innovative policies and entrepreneurial initiatives, and the further increase in attention to these areas, especially the improvement of scientific indicators, in the university's strategic program for future development, played an important role in the achievements of BEU.
It should be noted that a total of 6 of our universities entered the TOP 1000 in the "QS 2026 World University Rankings". Positive dynamics were observed in the indicators of Azerbaijani universities on the indicators "Academic reputation", "Reputation among employers", "Faculty-student ratio", "Share of foreign teachers", "Share of foreign students" and "Employment results". According to the results of the rating, Azerbaijan is in a leading position in the South Caucasus region, and the number of universities from our country included in the rating is 3 times higher than the total number of universities from other South Caucasus countries included in the rating
