Baku Engineering University (BEU) has organized an award ceremony of BEU student teams that succeeded at the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan Aerospace and Technology Festival.
First, a review of the technological projects presented at the exhibition was held in the lobby of the University by members of the teams.
Speaking at the event, BEU Rector, Professor Havar Mammadov gave general information about the festival. He noted that the festival has been held annually since 2018 with the joint organization of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (the T3 Foundation), headed by Selcuk Bayraktar. Emphasizing the organization of TEKNOFEST in Azerbaijan for the first time outside of Türkiye and the the importance of this historic event, the Rector added that the festival further expanded the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the two brotherly countries, in the field of science, education and technology and brought it to a new stage.
Havar Mammadov mentioned that the teams of universities and secondary schools of the country participated in the festival with various technological projects, and the achievements of the event once again proved that a young generation with modern knowledge and skills in science, education and technology was nurtured in Azerbaijan.
Highlighting that 7 BEU student teams (“TexnoMex”, “RED”, “İ.Asimov”, “BÖRÜ”, “Curiosity”, “CabEx”, “Iradus Eko”) was represented at TEKNOFEST, the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, with their with their innovative projects and reached the final stage, the Rector underlined that RED team won the first place in the category of Robotics.
Havar Mammadov stressed that the award was represented to BEU team during the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the festival, and this was met with great pride and joy by the University students and staff, noting that RED team got the opportunity to participate in the TEKNOFEST Istanbul-2022 festival in Türkiye.
At the end of his speech, Havar Mammadov congratulated the winners on behalf of the University staff and thanked the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the high level of organization of the festival owing to the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev.
Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Director General of the Institute of Information Technology emphasized that the dedication of the festival to Azerbaijan's Independence Day had a special meaning and brotherly Türkiye had provided political and moral support to our country in the liberation of the occupied territories of our independent state over the past 30 years, the achievements of the brave Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Pointing out that the processes taking place in the global world were constantly changing, Rasim Alguliyev spoke about the role of technology in modern times and highlighted that the festival created a favorable environment for the promotion of aerospace technologies, defense industry and innovative entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, the support for talented youth with digital knowledge and skills, innovative thinking, strengthening human resources in the country and the development of national tech solutions.
By emphasizing the role of Azerbaijan in the field of high technologies both in the world and in the region, the academician brought to the attention that the reconstruction work carried out in the territories liberated from the occupation under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev was based on smart technologies.
Noting that ANAS was one of the active participants of TEKNOFEST, the Vice-President added that the projects exhibited by the research institutes of the organization he represented were of great interest to the participants.
The academician spoke about the placement of selected projects of university students and high school students in various nominations, congratulated the winning BEU team on behalf of the administration of ANAS and appreciated it as a great achievement.
Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Mammadov noted that despite the end of the festival, its joy continued. He pointed out that the main purpose of the competitions organized at the festival was to identify talented young people, as well as to support their development. Touching upon that TEKNOFEST has grown every year and set new successes and records, the Deputy Minister said that the festival became one of the most prestigious events in the world in the field of technology. The ministry official said the festival was another manifestation of the ties of friendship, brotherhood and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as a message that the two brotherly countries would move forward together.
By noting that 8 technological competitions and 3 international events held within the festival, the Deputy Minister said that these competitions allowed young people to demonstrate their skills in unmanned aerial vehicles, satellite modeling, robotics and other fields.
Samir Mammadov recalled the opinion of President Ilham Aliyev at the award ceremony, drawing attention that TEKNOFEST was a celebration of science, development, knowledge and technology. He said that celebrating this in our country with great enthusiasm and showing great international interest in the festival were a great success of Azerbaijan.
Speaking about the results of the international event for Azerbaijan, the ministry official said that Azerbaijan and Türkiye once again demonstrated the strength of the air force, allowed young people to test themselves in the field of science and technology, realized their ideas and gained great experience. He noted that youth got acquainted with new technologies for 6 months, worked with mentors and exchanged experiences, as well as learned to compete and persevere in a healthy environment.
At the end of his speech, the Deputy Minister heartily congratulated the BMU RED team, one of the founders of our future, and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Afterwards, members of the BEU student teams who succeeded at the festival were awarded honorary diplomas and prizes.
