The article co-authored by PhD. in Economics, assoc.prof. Shahriyar Mukhtarov, head of World Economy Department, and PhD. in Economics Altay Ismayilov, senior lecturer of the Department, has been published “International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology” journal (6th issue of 2020, 27th volume).
The article entitled “The FDI-CO2 nexus from the sustainable development perspective: the case of Azerbaijan” analyzed the impact of foreign direct investment on CO2 emissions in the example of the Azerbaijani economy through STSM (Structural Time Series Modeling) method by using statistical data for 1996-2016. Pursuant to the article, the impact of foreign direct investment on CO2 emissions in Azerbaijan was positive until 2006 and negative after that year. According to the study, "Environmental Kuznets curve" hypothesis does not exist in the example of Azerbaijan. Based on the results of the study, a number of suggestions were made.
