Article entitled “Re-evaluating the environmental impacts of tourism: does EKC exist?” and written by head of World Economy Department, PhD. in Economics Shahriyar Mukhtarov and Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, PhD. in Economics Mayis Azizov has been published in the may edition of “Environmental Science and Polution Research” journal. The so-called journal is indexed in the Web of Science database, the most influential database in the world, and the impact factor is 2.8.
The presence of “The Environment Kuznets Curtain” hypothesis in Azerbaijan and the impact of tourism activities on the environment were analyzed using the statistical data for the years 1996-2014 through the TVC method in the article. It was determined in the article that the tourism activities polluted the environment and there was no “Environment Kuznets Curtain” hypothesis in Azerbaijan. Based on the research findings, a number of proposals were made to reduce the negative impact of tourism activities on the environment.
