Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted the founding conference of the Women's Council. The conference was attended by the University administration, women staff and students.
The Rector of the University, Professor Havar Mammadov greeted the conference participants and spoke about the role of women in the family and society. The rector noted that Great Leader Heydar Aliyev established the State Committee on Women's Issues for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan to strengthen the position of women in society.
Havar Mammadov noted that the main purpose of establishing the Women's Council at Baku Engineering University, a young university, was to help and care for female students, as well as professors, teachers and employees in solving their work, labor and social issues.
Head of the Women’s Council of the Absheron Regional Branch of New Azerbaijan Party(NAP) Tayyiba Huseynova və Chairman of the Trade Union of the University Hazi Gasimov spoke about the role of women in educating the younger generation, the country's socio-political life as well as about positive results of the women's policy of the state.
In the end, the Women's Council of the university, consisting of 9 people, was established. Director of the BEU School of Languages, Associate Professor Atraba Gul was elected the chair of the council.
