Rector of Baku Engineering University (BEU) Yagub Piriyev has met Sohail Elabd, Regional Director for International Strategy of the US company "ESRI" and Ahmed Avady, General Advisor of the company, who are visiting our country to participate in the 74th International Astronautical Congress.
The Rector informed the guests about the steps taken for purposeful development of human capital in Azerbaijan, the fastest growing country of the region under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the dual state implemented in the field of education, as well as state programs for education abroad.
Drawing attention to the effective cooperation between ESRI and our country, the Rector noted that there are opportunities to establish and expand relations between BEU and the company.
Yagub Piriyev highlighted the work to be done in order to further strengthen the software of BEU laboratories and emphasized the importance of cooperation with "ESRI" company in this regard.
Sohail Elabd expressed his satisfaction in being in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that our country is on the path of rapid development and has great potential to achieve greater achievements. Providing necessary information about the activities of the company he represented and the software products that are successfully applied in many fields, Sohail Elabd spoke in detail about the software products created by the company in the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). He added that they are ready to license these programs for free use at BEU.
Aynura Balakishiyeva, an employee of the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), spoke about the World Space Week held in our country on October 4-10, as well as the work done in cooperation with the ESRI company.
At the meeting where the main directions of future cooperation were reviewed, it was agreed to use licensed software and many of their modules at BEU.
Later, the guests got acquainted with the Industrial Engineering laboratory of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of BEU, where the programs will be implemente.
