An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ASUCA) has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Speaking at the event, which was attended by well-known Azerbaijani artists, the leadership of both universities, the teaching staff, students and other guests, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev congratulated the staff of ASUCA, which has a special place and rich traditions in the history of education and culture of our country, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
Noting that this important event coincided with the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the rector noted that the development of ASUCA and its successes are connected precisely with the name and multifaceted activities of the Great Leader. Moreover, he emphasized that the important steps taken by the wise political figure for the development of the education and culture sector as a whole played a decisive role in the significant achievements of the 100-year-old higher education institution.
Yagub Piriyev mentioned that the worthy successor of the National Leader, President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciates the activities of educational institutions that have made special contributions to the development of national culture and art, education, and always supports them. The rector added that the relevant Presidential Decree on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of ASUCA, which has a century-old history, is another clear example of this.
Yagub Piriyev also spoke about the relations between the two universities and noted that despite the training of engineering personnel at ASUCA, students show great interest in culture.
At the end of his speech, expressing his confidence that ASUCA would continue to provide our country with valuable personnel in the field of culture and art and contribute to our national culture, Yagub Piriyev wished success to the university staff.
Noting that the decree of the President of the country on the celebration of the anniversary of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ASUCA) was met with great joy and inspired those working in the field of art, professor Jeyran Mahmudova emphasized that the higher education institution she leads has covered a great historical path. The rector noted thatASUCA, which was established in 1923 on the basis of the Baku Theater School and received university status in 1991, today covers not only the theater field, but also such fields as cinema, audiovisual, painting, and music, and currently unites faculties in 5 directions. Furthermore, she added that training personnel in relevant specialties based on the requirements of the modern era has begun.
Highlighting the undeniable merits of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the entry of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts into the current stage of development, Jeyran Mahmudova proudly noted that the higher education institution is staffed by bearers of Azerbaijani culture who personally knew the Great Leader and shared their memories of him with the new generation of representatives of the field of art.
The rector concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of developing effective cooperation between higher education institutions of various profiles.
After the speeches, the rectors presented mutual gifts.
The event continued with a concert prepared by the Faculty of Music of the ASUCA.
