Working group visits BEU in connection with new KOICA project

Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted a meeting with a working group visiting the country in connection with "Development of a strategic roadmap for innovation to enhance the efficiency of Azerbaijan innovation policy" project funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Of note, preliminary negotiations were held and positive conclusion was received for the participation of BEU as a partner in the project jointly implemented by the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

At the meeting, BEU Vice-Rector for International Relations, assoc.prof. Manafaddin Namazov spoke about the international relations of the University and the programs implemented as part of the international projects. The Vice-Rector also noted the work done within the framework of Dual Degree Program carried out between BEU and INHA University of South Korea for two years.

Senior specialist of BEU Technopark Arif Najimov delivered a presentation on the activities of the University. Giving information about BEU faculties and departments, A. Najimov stressed that the University conducted training at all levels of higher education. Senior specialist drew attention to the necessary information about the material and technical base of BEU, and modern laboratories, touching upon the the activities of Xırdalan Sejong Institute established at the University, various training programs currently being implemented and other areas of cooperation.

In the presentation about the development of startups in South Korea, Kevin (Kyu Hwang) Yeon, Startup Ecosystem Advisor of Korea Productivity Center, Board Member of Korea Accelerator Association, Korea Senator of World Business Angel Investment Forum, also highlighted the state-supported startups projects implemented in his country. 

Lee, Jeong Hoon, CEO of TechEdu Inc. Company and Ph.D. in Management Science, underlined the main purpose of the project "Development of a strategic roadmap for innovation to enhance the efficiency of Azerbaijan innovation policy."

Afterwards, the sides exchanged views on opportunities and directions for future cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of Engineering Faculty Huseyn Mirzayev, the Head of the Avtomatics and Electroenergetics Department, professor Ramiz Humbatov, the Head of Mechanical Engineering laboratory Rustam Kalantarov, Head of Science and Innovation Department Elchin Yusubov, Program coordinator of KOICA Azerbaijan Shin Min Kyung and the Program manager of KOICA Azerbaijan Saida Saidi, Team Manager / Innovation team of Social Value Innovative Group (Korea Insitute for Development Strategy) MyeongSeok Song and Senior Research Fellow of Social Value Innovative Group (Korea Insitute for Development Strategy) Soohyun Rhee, Company D Startup Accelerator Bang, Seung Ae and Programme Officer / Innovative Business Team of Social Value Innovative Group (Korea Insitute for Development Strategy) Min Lyou.

At the end, the project working group got acquainted with the University campus, laboratories and Technopark.
