Preliminary results of online organization of education at BEU discussed

Online meeting of Rectorate of Baku Engineering University(BEU) on the Google Hangout Meet platform has been held.

At the meeting, the rector of BEU, Professor Havar Mammadov spoke about the organization of online education during the quarantine period to ensure the continuity of education in connection with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. The rector noted that BEU has continued the distance education process since March 29. Noting that the University had all the technical capabilities for distance education, H.Mammadov noted that this process was carried out through the Google Classroom LMS (Learning Management System) training platform.

At the meeting, where the preliminary results of the online education were discussed in detail, the rector stressed the importance of discussions with students in this direction. He said that the number of students involved in online classes should be increased.

Rector H. Mammadov called on university staff and students to follow the requirements and rules of the World Health Organization, the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as self-isolation measures, taking into account the long incubation period of COVID-19 virus and the rate of spread.

At the meeting of the Rectorate, a wide exchange of views was held on the continuation of the organization of education in accordance with the existing conditions, and the importance of serious work with students was noted.

The meeting ended with an analysis of the existing shortcomings and the decision to take appropriate steps to further improve them.

It should be noted that in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and strengthen social isolation, the studies, educational process have been suspended in all educational institutions and all related activities have been postponed from March 29 to April 18, 2020 (the first day of study was set April 20) in all educational institutions.
