Patent granted for invention co-authored by BEU scientist

A patent has been granted for invention co-authored by associate professor of the Automation and Electroenergetics Engineering Department of Baku Engineering University (BEU), Doctor of Technical Sciences Elchin Gurbanov. Patent No. F 2021 0022 was granted by the Center for Expertise of Patents and Trademarks of Azerbaijan Intellectual Property Agency for the invention "Device for nanosecond pulsed corona discharge".

The patent refers to the development and creation of an efficient electronic processing device. The existing device is used in high voltage equipment, as well as for energy-efficient electronic processing by providing stable excitation of pulsed gas discharge for various purposes (purification of toxic industrial gases from toxic substances, neutralization of drinking and waste water from pathogenic microorganisms, increase of electronic processing and shelf life of food products, increase of electronic processing and productivity of pre-sowing seeds, purchase of new materials, and etc.).

The advantage of the device which can be used in various plasma technology (green technology) is its energy efficiency, which is confirmed by the reduction of the delay time of the pulse gas discharge, the expansion of the ionization field, the increase in the frequency of pulse repetitions, as well as in the concentration of chemically active products

The main purpose of the patent is to develop a device that will increase the generation of chemically active gas discharge products formed between electrodes by expanding the ionization zone in nanosecond pulsed electrical discharge in gas, reduce the delay time of high capacity channels, increase the pulse repetition frequency and the energy efficiency of electronic processing of toxic gas emissions from industrial enterprises.

Information about the invention was published in the 11th issue of the "Industrial Property" dated 30.11.2021 (http://patent.copat.gov.az/_files/%C4%B0xtira%2011.2021.pdf).
