Meeting held with Jemalettin Ozdemir, director of “Museum of Turkish History and Cultures” operating in Germany

With the organization of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of Baku Engineering University (BEU), a meeting has been held with Jemalettin Ozdemir, director of the German "Museum of Turkish History and Cultures" (Begegnungsstube Medina e.V.).

Bayram Huseynzada, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of BEU, emphasized the importance of the meeting in his introductory remarks. The Vice-Rector noted that, in addition to his efforts to promote Turkish history around the world, Jemalettin Ozdemir also made significant contributions to the promotion of Azerbaijani history, culture, and the truth about our country. Highlighting Jemalettin Ozdemir's support for our country during the 44-day Patriotic War, Bayram Huseynzada stressed that photographs of Azerbaijani martyrs were on display in the museum he founded. By adding that festivals related to the national costume of Turkic peoples were held in different years and different countries under the leadership of Jemalettin Ozdemir, and "Ottoman military march" parades were organized, at the end of his speech, the Vice-Rector expressed his deep gratitude to the guest for the projects implemented.

Anar Rzayev, a BEU-INHA Dual Degree Program student, remarked that the "Museum of Turkish History and Cultures" was Europe's only Turkish museum.

Then, Jemalettin Ozdemir gave a presentation about "Promotion projects of Turkish history and culture from Germany to the rest of the globe." Stating that German people placed a great value on records, exhibitions, and works, J.Ozdemir claimed that he founded the Museum of Turkish History and Cultures in Nuremberg in 1995 to showcase Turkish history and national-spiritual values in a more visible and comprehensive way.

Jemalettin Ozdemir pointed out that he had held numerous conferences on Turkish history and culture in front of a variety of audiences, as well as collaborating on projects with kindergartens, schools, colleges, and police academies. Every year, about 10,000 visitors, including ambassadors and government officials from Israel, the United States, Turkey, Germany, Kazakhstan, and other nations, visit the museum, in reference to him.

According to Jemalettin Ozdemir, a considerable space in the museum has been set aside to promote Azerbaijan to visitors from European countries, as well as the country's history from Atropatene to the present day. The speaker touched upon that museum had several exhibits relating to Azerbaijan and Karabakh, as well as photographs of martyrs from each region and a picture of Major General Polad Hashimov on the carpet.

Deputy Jeyhun Mammadov appreciated Jemalettin Ozdemir's initiatives to promote Azerbaijan's truth around the world. Noting that Azerbaijan was a country with tolerant and multicultural values, the MP underlined the significance of strengthening ties with the Turkish Diaspora. Jeyhun Mammadov emphasized the necessity of holding such a meeting with young people and expressed his gratitude to BEU administration.

Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, claimed that Azerbaijan was known around the world as a country rich in cultural values, a hub for multiculturalism, and a place where people of many religions coexist peacefully. The Executive Director recognized the importance of protecting and supporting intercultural values in his speech.
