A seminar on “BIM and Digital Transformation in the Construction Industry” has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU). The event, which took place in a hybrid format, was attended by participants from various foreign countries online.
Stressing that the event was dedicated to the topical issue, BEU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Associate Professor Elchin Suleymanov noted that architecture was further developed in the modern world using IT technologies.
E. Suleymanov noted that the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by Armenian armed forces for 30 years had been liberated from occupation, and architects beared responsibility for carring out construction work in Karabakh under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Reminding that students of BEU Design Department had recently prepared park projects in Karabakh, the Vice-Rector said that the students had selected the region in our liberated lands and submitted a park project for that area, and the project had been met with interest by the public.
E.Suleymanov expressed his confidence that the topics discussed at the event would be useful for both teachers and students and wished success to the seminar.
Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of BEU, Associate Professor Afar Alifov informed the participants that a seminar on this topic was held for the first time in Azerbaijan. He added BIM was a new approach to digitizing design, construction and building management processes, and the workshop would give a boost to architects as well as to civil engineers. Noting that the education was conducted in Azerbaijani and English at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction, A.Alifov also empahsized the specialty of Civil Engineering taught within the Dual Degree Program between BEU and Inha University of Korea.
Later, the seminar continued with presentations.
Presentations entitled “Digitalization in the design and construction” by Masoud Baqai Kia, “BIM uses in structural designing” by Rahib Rafiyev, “Energy analyses and parametric architecture in BIM” by Nikrouz Forouzandeh, “Introducing BIM4Azerbaijan, New Generation Project Management Methodologies, BIM and New Generation Project Management in Construction Sector” by Mehmet Egilmezer, “Workflows and concepts related to building information management in the delivery phase of assets according to ISO 19650 international standards” by Barish Janpolat and Pinar Kabaoghlu, “A case study of BIM processes of an ongoing construction project in London, the benefits of using BIM and the problems encountered in the office while designing” by Tolga Ishikyildiz, “BIM 4D modelling” by Ali Nejat, “Autodesk Inventor Integration into the process of teaching design students.
