96 students admitted to the dual degree program this year

The admission process for the dual degree program between Baku Engineering University and Inha University of Korea, which began in the academic year 2020/2021, has been conducted in 4 specialties - Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

During the implementation period of the program for the current year, the admission of 96 state-funded students was conducted (Civil Engineering - 25 people, Information Technology Engineering - 25 people, Electronics and Electrical Engineering - 46 people).

After the admission process, orientation meetings were organized at BEU for each specialty group. Students who got acquainted with the University were informed about their dual degree program. Moreover, students admitted to the dual degree program took an English proficiency test, and according to the results of the exam, students were divided into appropriate groups.

Within the framework of the program, curricula in 4 specialties for 4 academic years were approved in coordination with Inha University and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. According to the curriculum, in the first semester students from all 4 specialties are planned to take English, Physics I, Mathematics I and Korean classes, and in this regard, teachers have already been appointed for the first semester. The training will be conducted by local teachers, as well as teachers invited from Inha University. During the implementation of the program, professors from Inha University will visit BEU and teach some special subjects.

Within the framework of the program, new specialties, which are most in demand in the current labor market, will be taught at BEU in these 4 specialties. These include Elementary Geodesy in Civil Engineering, Environmental Hydraulics and Laboratory, ICT Graduation Project in Information Technology Engineering, Integrated Analog Circuits, Visual Programming, Autonomous Electric Vehicle Engineering in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and Smart Network Engineering. In the subject covering the rapidly evolving field of automated and related vehicles, students will have the opportunity to explore key technologies and applications to expand the development of autonomous vehicles in the commercial vehicle and aerospace sectors in addition to the automotive industry. Moreover, they will gain detailed information on various important engineering problems related to the design and operation of the smart grid by focusing on the advances methods and practices to ensure the optimal energy use and supply, the better planning for interrupt reactions  and recovery, facilitate the integration of heterogeneous technologies such as renewable energy systems, electric vehicle networks and smart homes.

It is planned to conduct 3 years of undergraduate education in English in Azerbaijan and 1 year in Korean at Inha University. Eight teachers were involved for the Korean language, which was one of the main conditions of the program. During the 3 years of study at BEU, students must learn Korean and take the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) exam at the end of the 2nd and 3rd years. At the end of the third year, students will be eligible to continue their 4th academic year (state-funded) at Inha University in Korea if their GPA (general average score), English level and Korean language level (TOPIC IV level) meet the requirements of dual degree program.

Both BEU and Inha University diplomas will be awarded to graduates who meet the above conditions and, as a result, complete the 4th academic year at Inha University within 1 year.

The dual degree program between BEU and Inha University was established in the framework of the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 711 dated November 16, 2018. The program aimed to train a new generation of highly qualified specialists in the field of engineering in Azerbaijan, modernize the content and quality of the higher education system in Azerbaijan with an international dual degree program using advanced scientific achievements and innovative teaching technologies.
