Training on "Scopus and SciVal" Held at BEU

A training session on the topic of "Scopus and SciVal for Researchers" has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Conducted by Saide Sak, official representative of Elsevier, the training aimed primarily at introducing the use of international scientific databases, with particular focus on the capabilities of the Scopus and SciVal platforms.

At the opening of the event, BEU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Agasi Malikov delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of such training sessions for the development of researchers' scientific activities and the effective use of international academic resources.

During the training, participants received detailed guidance on conducting searches for articles and journals in the Scopus database, analyzing citation metrics, and determining the rankings of academic journals. Information was also provided on evaluating research outcomes through the SciVal platform, analyzing scientific performance, exploring international collaboration opportunities, and identifying priority research directions.

The functionalities of the platforms were demonstrated to participants in a hands-on format. Questions related to the subject were subsequently addressed, and researchers were advised on how to make more effective use of these resources.

It should be noted that such initiatives contribute to the targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (quality education) and 9 (innovation) by strengthening research potential, improving the quality of scientific activity, and expanding innovation opportunities.
