17 aprel 2026
A scientific-methodological seminar titled "Opportunities and Prospects for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Azerbaijan's Business Sector" has been held at the Faculty of Economics of Baku Engineering University (BEU).
The seminar, conducted in line with Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, was attended by the faculty's academic staff and members of the Student Scientific Society.
At the event, Ramila Bashirzade, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Administration, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Associate Professor, delivered a presentation on the topic. It was noted in the address that in recent years, artificial intelligence technologies have become one of the key components of economic development in Azerbaijan. These technologies are exerting a significant influence on labour market development, the strengthening of the competitive environment, and the enhancement of economic efficiency. The widespread application of artificial intelligence in such sectors as finance, transport, and agriculture has already begun to yield tangible results. It was stated that artificial intelligence enables the optimisation of transport systems, the analysis of financial data for the preparation of forecasts, and the increase of productivity in agriculture. Emphasis was also placed on the fact that "smart city" projects being implemented in the liberated territories are creating conditions for the adoption of new technological approaches and the generation of employment opportunities. Attention was drawn to the fact that while certain jobs are being automated as a result of the implementation of artificial intelligence, new professions and specialisations are simultaneously emerging.
The seminar highlighted that the expansion of educational programmes, the training of qualified personnel, the strengthening of the legislative framework, and the ensuring of data security are essential for the development of artificial intelligence. It was further noted that enhanced cooperation between the public and private sectors could make a significant contribution to the advancement of this field.
At the conclusion of the event, questions from seminar participants were answered and discussions on the topic were held.
