BEU hosts "VIII International Scientific Conference of Young Researchers"

 

"VIII International Scientific Conference of Young Researchers" dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, jointly organized by Baku Engineering University (BEU) and the Academy of the State Customs Committee, has started its work.

Before the event, the participants of the conference laid flowers in front of the bust of Heydar Aliyev in the administrative building of BEU and expressed their deep respect and reverence for the unforgettable memory of the Great Leader.

Starting with the playing of the national anthem, the dear memory of the National Leader and the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence at the conference.

Delivering the opening speech, BEU rector Yagub Piriyev noted that this year's conference has a special place in the framework of the "Green World Solidarity Year" and among the events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the National Leader. Drawing attention to the declaration of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, as well as Nakhchivan as a green energy zone by President Ilham Aliyev, and to the work done in those areas, the Rector emphasized that green energy is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan. Yagub Piriyev mentioned that in November of this year, our capital will host a prestigious event such as COP29, and added that this is a clear example of great respect and trust for Azerbaijan at the international level. The rector said that the conference of young researchers with the main topics of the Great Return concept, green energy, artificial intelligence, held at a time when the world's attention is focused on Azerbaijan in connection with COP29, is a great opportunity for sharing scientific views on environmental problems and green energy.

In his speech, Yagub Piriyev brought into consideration various strategic programs and projects implemented at the state level for the purpose of development of science and education, training of highly qualified personnel, support of young people in Azerbaijan. The Rector spoke about the work done to give scientists access to prestigious scientific databases, as well as the implementation of awards for scientific articles published in these databases. He pointed out that the multifaceted measures implemented at the state level put the responsibility of raising the position of Azerbaijani science on young researchers. Yagub Piriyev drew attention to the work done in these areas at BEU recently, as well as the steps taken to train young scientific personnel and realize their scientific potential, and listed the complex measures taken to place the university in the ranking tables and to be recognized in the global environment.

At the end of his speech, the rector said that about 700 theses and articles in various fields of science were sent to the international event from 9 countries, and 548 of them were included in the program of the conference. Yagub Piriyev emphasized that reports from more than 35 higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan were presented at the conference. He highly valued the importance of the conference in terms of bringing the achievements of young researchers to the public, increasing interest in research work, and wished success to the participants.

Head of the Academy of the State Customs Committee Gulu Novruzov noted that the political heritage of the founder of the Azerbaijan state Heydar Aliyev is a great source of research for young researchers. He said that after the glorious victory in the Karabakh war under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, it is important to pay more attention to the strengthening of intellectual potential. The head of the academy emphasized that following the great heroism and sacrifices of our martyrs and veterans on the battlefield, higher education institutions can also contribute to the future of our country with their activities in the field of science. Gulu Novruzov also shared his views on issues such as conducting research in advanced scientific fields, rapidly changing scientific trends, predictions on new scientific trends, providing access to global scientific resources, and managing artificial intelligence.

Sadiq Gurbanov, chairman of the Natural resources, energy and ecology committee of the Milli Majlis, spoke about the successful environmental policy implemented by the state. Emphasizing that one of Azerbaijan's 5 national priorities for socio-economic development for the next years is "a country of clean environment and green growth", the chairman of the committee drew attention to problems at the international level such as global climate changes and ecological imbalance. Furthermore, he noted that the eyes of the countries of the world are focused on the COP29 to be held in Baku in order to make decisions aimed at the comprehensive solution of environmental problems that are waiting to be solved in the global space. Touching upon the importance of continuous research in this field, the deputy listed the work that can be done in the direction of protecting the ecological balance, including the application of green technologies, alternative and renewable energy sources.

Rector of Mingachevir State University (MSU) Shahin Bayramov drew attention to the exceptional services of the National Leader and President Ilham Aliyev in the development of science and education in Azerbaijan. Adding to his thoughts that MSU as a regional university was honored to participate in such a prestigious conference with a delegation of 8 people, the rector touched on the possibility of establishing cooperation between universities for scientific research. Sahin Bayramov talked about the steps taken in recent years towards the sustainable development of the areas covered by the conference, as well as the important missions and tasks facing higher education institutions.

After the speeches, scientific reports were heard at the plenary session, and certificates were presented to the speakers at the end.

        It should be noted that at the two-day conference, young researchers will give reports in sections on the main directions.
