Hamzagha Orujov graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) in 1972. From 1972 to 1975, he continued his studies in the postgraduate program at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Azerbaijan SSR Academy of Sciences (now ANAS). After completing his postgraduate studies in 1975, Hamzagha Orujov initially worked at the institute as a junior researcher and, from 1979, as a senior researcher.

In 1976, Hamzagha Orujov defended his Candidate’s dissertation, and in 1995, he defended his Doctoral dissertation. By the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

In 1980, Hamzagha Orujov joined the “Applied Mathematics” department of Baku State University as a senior lecturer through a competitive selection. In 1986, he was promoted to associate professor, and in 1995, he was appointed professor. From 2011 to 2017, he served as the head of the department.

From 2001 to 2016, Hamzagha Orujov was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Qafqaz University, after which he headed the “Mathematics Teaching” division.

Since 2017, Hamzagha Orujov has been the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Baku Engineering University.

His scientific work is in the field of differential equations with operator coefficients in mathematics. His scientific results have been included in the encyclopedia Mathematics in the USSR. He is the author of more than 70 published scientific articles and 4 textbooks.

He is a member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

By the decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hamzagha Orujov was awarded the “Tərəqqi” (Progress) medal in 2009 and the honorary title of “Honored Teacher” in 2019.

In 2019, by the order of the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the “Advanced Education Worker” badge.

Hamzagha Orujov is married and has four children.
