BEU Students Achieve Success at "RobotChallenge Azerbaijan 2026" Competition
June 17, 2026
Students of Baku Engineering University (BEU) have achieved successful results at the local stage of the "RobotChallenge Azerbaijan 2026" international technology competition, held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Azercell Telecom, in partnership with 4SİM, KOBIA, İNNOLAND, the Innovation Center, Azercosmos, and STEAM Azerbaijan.
More than 600 participants and over 200 teams competed for top results at the event, showcasing innovative projects and technical skills across various categories.
According to the competition results, the "Linex" team, made up of BEU students (Aykhan Isgandarzadeh – Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Fatima Huseynova – Computer Science, Omar Davudov – Computer Science), was awarded second place in the Line Follower Adult category. In this category, robots were evaluated based on the speed at which they completed the route by following the black line in the shortest possible time.
The "Pathix" team (Nazrin Hamidova – Mechanical Engineering, Farangiz Ibrahimova – Electrical Engineering, BEU-INHA dual state program, Fidan Azimova – Azerbaijan Aviation Academy, Robotics), competing in the same category, achieved a strong result and won third place. Among five competing teams, the team demonstrated high speed and precision.
In the Freestyle Adult category, the "JoshuaTech" team (Ashurbey Mammadzadeh, Emil Hajiyev), led by Tahira Beylarova, a third-year student in Electronics Engineering under the BEU-INHA dual diploma program, was awarded third place among 14 teams. The project presented by the team was an industrial-type spider robot capable of conducting real-time analysis of mines, performing mapping, and providing early warnings of potential risks. The robot's mechanical design, capable of multi-directional movement, was assessed as the project's key distinguishing feature.
As part of the competition, BEU-INHA Dual Diploma Program students also provided organizational support as volunteers. In total, the competition was held across 7 main and 5 sub-categories, with 36 teams ranking among the winners.
The achievements of BEU students once again confirm the university's students' high level of knowledge and skills in the fields of robotics, innovation, and engineering, as well as their great potential.
