Team Representing BEU Win Gold and Bronze Medals in Geneva

A team including Associate Professor Sevinc Aliyeva of Baku Engineering University (BEU) and second-year Design student Laman Safarli successfully represented Azerbaijan at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions held in Geneva, achieving significant success.

At this prestigious international platform, Azerbaijan was represented with five startup projects covering engineering, space technologies, medicine, and agrotechnology. At the exhibition, the team-including BEU representatives-was awarded a gold medal for the “A.I.N.O.S” project and a bronze medal for the “S.O.N.I.A” project.

The “A.I.N.O.S” project stood out as an innovative solution equipped with laser and high-sensitivity optical systems capable of tracking celestial objects in real time up to a distance of 16.3 parsecs. Meanwhile, the “S.O.N.I.A” project was highly praised as an artificial intelligence-based unmanned aerial vehicle capable of autonomous operation for up to two hours, featuring search-and-rescue and terrain mapping functions.

This achievement once again demonstrates the competitive potential of Azerbaijani scientists and young researchers within the international innovation ecosystem. At the same time, it makes a significant contribution to promoting the country’s scientific and technological capabilities on a global scale.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan participated in this prestigious exhibition for the first time this year. The participation of the teams was supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. More than 1,000 inventions from over 30 countries were presented at the exhibition, with the most promising projects in innovation, science, and technology evaluated by an international jury panel.
