BEU Represented at Youth Forum on Sustainable Development Goals

Baku Engineering University (BEU) was represented at the 3rd Youth Networking Forum "Youth for Sustainable Development Goals."

As part of the forum, a panel discussion on "New Vision and Local Solutions for Sustainable Cities" was organized. Sabir Orujov, Head of BEU's Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, spoke at the panel. The discussion was also attended by Shahnaz Badalova, Deputy Head of the Urban Planning and Territorial Development Department of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, and Ayfra Manto, founder of "FounderDNA."

During the discussion, a wide-ranging exchange of views took place on modern urban planning approaches to building sustainable cities, taking local characteristics into account, the development of public spaces, the accessibility of the urban environment, and the application of innovative solutions.

The event also featured a presentation of "The Bioplastic," a project by a startup resident of BEU's Technopark. Developed by a team of third-year "Chemistry" students from the Faculty of Engineering, Mirsadig Miriyev and Orkhan Ahmadzade, the project aims to produce biodegradable and environmentally friendly alternative materials. The project's main goal is to contribute to reducing the negative environmental impact of plastic waste and to promote the application of more sustainable material solutions.

BEU's participation in the forum demonstrated the importance the university places on bringing together academic knowledge, modern urban planning approaches, and student innovation in the field of sustainable development.
