Round Table on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Foreign Language Teaching Held at BEU

A round table discussion on "Artificial Intelligence in Foreign Language Teaching: Digital Transformation and Innovative Approaches in Higher Education" has been held at Baku Engineering University as part of a series of events dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event, moderated by Nigar Orujova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, was jointly organised by BEU, Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), and MetaWay. Faculty members from both higher education institutions, as well as specialists, students, and invited guests, attended the event.

Narmina Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, spoke on the significance of applying artificial intelligence in education and touched upon state policy implemented in this direction. The priorities of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028 were particularly highlighted.

Within the framework of the round table, topical issues were extensively discussed, including the use of artificial intelligence tools in foreign language teaching, the development of students' communicative skills, the application of innovative teaching methods, assessment mechanisms, principles of academic integrity, and the enhancement of teachers' digital competencies.

The event continued with presentations and a panel discussion, during which participants exchanged views on the topic and put forward a range of proposals and approaches.

In conclusion, it was underscored that initiatives of this kind create a favourable foundation for deepening future cooperation between BEU and UNEC, developing joint teaching modules, implementing collaborative research projects, and expanding academic exchange programmes.
