Scientific Seminar on Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Agricultural Sector Held at BEU

A scientific seminar titled "AI-Based Assessment of Farmland Suitability and Productivity Using Satellite Data" was held at the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies of Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Faculty Dean Vagif Gasimov spoke about the significance of the scientific seminar, stating that this topic represents one of the most relevant areas of integration between information technologies and agriculture in the modern era and clearly demonstrates the opportunities that artificial intelligence creates for the real sector. He added that the seminar will open new perspectives for both scientific discussions and future research and collaborations.

During the seminar, Ertugrul Gayibov, lecturer at BEU's Department of Information Technologies and Programming, delivered a comprehensive presentation. The presentation provided information about satellite monitoring of farmlands in Karabakh and the Kur-Araz lowland, as well as methods for assessing agricultural areas using artificial intelligence technologies. The presenter emphasized the importance of precise mapping for food security and sustainable resource management, highlighting artificial intelligence and satellite capabilities as major advantages, given that field measurements are both costly and labor-intensive.

The seminar also noted that the selected model with zero-shot application was applied to Karabakh satellite images, and relevant information was brought to attention.

At the end of the event, participants' questions were answered and extensive discussions on the topic were held.
