Seminar on Water Resource Management Held at BEU
May 12, 2026
A seminar on "The Integrated Use Plan for Azerbaijan's Inland Water Resources" has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Asif Guliyev emphasized the relevance of the topic, noting that the efficient management of water resources is of critical importance for the country's socio-economic development.
At the event, Ahmad Mammadov, founder of "Hydrolog" LLC, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Honored Engineer, addressed various aspects of global water resource utilization. The presentation included statistical data on the water resources of rivers formed within the republic, as well as figures relating to high-water and low-water years. Attention was drawn to the observed trend of declining surface water resources in the country as a result of the impact of global climate change.
It was also noted that the geographical conditions of the republic, population distribution, and the existing hydrographic network necessitate the application of an integrated management approach to water resource utilization. Participants were provided with detailed information on the core principles and requirements of integrated management, as well as the current state of river water resource utilization.
In conclusion, the key priorities of the proposed solutions for the protection and efficient use of water resources were outlined, and participants' questions were addressed.
