Winners of Mathematics Olympiad Awarded at BEU

An award ceremony was held for the winners of the Mathematics Olympiad organized by the Mathematics Diagnostics Center of the Research and Project Institute of Baku Engineering University (BEU) among students of grades 2-8 of general secondary schools.

 

The ceremony was attended by the Olympiad participants, their parents, and members of the university's professorial and teaching staff.

 

It was noted at the event that the Olympiad aimed to increase schoolchildren's interest in mathematics, develop their analytical thinking, strengthen their logical reasoning skills, and identify and support talented students. The preparation and conduct of the Olympiad questions were supported by BEU's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

 

Speaking at the event, the head of the department, Rakib Afandiyev, emphasized that mathematics plays an important role in the development of modern technologies, engineering, and innovation. He noted the significance of such Olympiads organized among schoolchildren in identifying talented students, increasing their interest in science, and shaping their future success. The head of the department also spoke about the opportunities created at BEU for forming students' innovative thinking and equipping them with modern knowledge and skills, and informed participants about the university's dual diploma programs implemented with universities in Korea and China.

 

Following this, the department's associate professor Humbat Aliyev and senior lecturers Bahman Mammadov and Rashad Alimmammadov, as well as Elmaddin Huseynov, deputy dean of the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies, delivered speeches. The speakers highly praised the achievements of the students in the field of mathematics and spoke about the importance of consistent effort and self-improvement. The speeches noted that the Olympiad provided participants with new experience and served to boost their self-confidence and motivate them toward future success.

 

At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the students who placed first, second, and third in the Olympiad, as well as to active participants, while the winners were additionally presented with book gifts.
