March 31, 2026
The next meeting of the Academic Council has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Opening the meeting with an introductory address, Council Chairman and Rector Yaqub Piriyev brought to the attention of those present the issues on the agenda. The Rector announced that the university has been represented for the first time in the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026," published last week by Quacquarelli Symonds, and extended his congratulations to the university community on the occasion. Emphasizing that the institution had achieved a significant milestone by securing a place in the prestigious ranking in 2 subject categories, Yaqub Piriyev recalled that BEU had previously entered the top 1,000 universities worldwide and the top 400 in Europe in the QS rankings, noting that all these accomplishments reflect the university's growing international standing. The Rector also touched upon the key targets outlined in BEU's Strategic Development Plan and issued directives regarding upcoming areas of activity.
The meeting then heard reports on the activities of the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations, as well as the Technopark.
Extensive discussions were held on each report, which were deemed satisfactory taking into account the proposals and opinions of Council members.
Yaqub Piriyev noted that expanding international cooperation, increasing joint projects with foreign partners, and developing an innovative environment are among the university's core priority areas, placing particular emphasis on further broadening activities, including strengthening the startup ecosystem and deepening collaboration with industry.
The meeting concluded with discussions on various items on the agenda, during which relevant reports were heard and decisions were adopted.
