Info Session on AIRO 2026 Held at BEU

An informational info session dedicated to the Azerbaijan International Robot Olympiad 2026 (AIRO 2026) international robotics competition has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

 

The info session was jointly organized by the University's Technopark and the Student Scientific Society. At the opening, Mayis Azizov, Head of the Science and Innovation Department at BEU, delivered a speech on the importance of developing the innovation ecosystem, engaging students in scientific and technical creativity, and their participation in international competitions. He noted that such initiatives make a significant contribution to enriching students' theoretical knowledge with practical skills and to ensuring that our country is duly represented on international platforms.

 

Subsequently, AIRO 2026 Chief Coordinator Imamir Mirzoyeva, coordinators Leyla Mursalova and Mughan Gulali, as well as mentors Farid Murshudlu and Hakim Musazade, provided detailed information on the competition's objectives, format, and participation opportunities. During the presentation, participants were given comprehensive information on the main directions of the competition and its 12 categories in total. It was noted that these categories offer broad opportunities for students to develop their skills in robotics, programming, engineering, and innovative thinking.

 

It was emphasized in the speeches that the winners of AIRO 2026 will have the opportunity to represent Azerbaijan in prestigious international robotics tournaments, including the All Japan Robot Sumo Tournament held in Tokyo, Japan.

 

Within the framework of the info session, discussions were also held on the hackathon format, principles of robot construction, competition rules, and registration procedures. Students' questions were answered, and an exchange of views took place regarding future plans in the field of robotics.
