A scientific article co-authored by Rakib Afandiyev, Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics at Baku Engineering University (BEU), has been published in a Q1-category international journal.

The article, titled "High-Accuracy Pseudospectral Scheme for Fractional Diffusion-Wave Problems Based on Cardinal Functions," was published in "PLOS ONE," a Q1-category multidisciplinary journal indexed in the "Scopus" database and considered one of the prestigious scientific publications in the field of applied mathematics.

The study proposes an efficient pseudospectral scheme based on Legendre cardinal functions for the high-precision solution of fractional-order diffusion-wave equations, which are used in modeling complex physical processes with memory and hereditary properties — such as anomalous diffusion and viscoelasticity phenomena.

The results obtained carry significant scientific importance in terms of accelerating the numerical solution of both second- and fourth-order equations, substantially reducing computational load, and ensuring higher accuracy and efficiency compared to existing difference and collocation methods.
