Historic Achievement for BEU in the QS Ranking

Baku Engineering University (BEU), which has further improved its position in the newly published world university rankings (QS World University Rankings 2027), has secured another major success. Having entered the world's TOP 1000 for the first time last year, BEU has advanced a further 31 places this year, placing in the 851-900 range. Over the past two years, the university has advanced a total of 580 places in this prestigious ranking list, which represents a significant historic achievement for BEU, set to mark its 10th anniversary this November.

BEU has made substantial progress in the individual indicators of QS's new assessment. The university rose 23 places to rank 350th in the Employer Reputation indicator and 84 places to rank 458th in the Faculty/Student Ratio indicator. One of the most significant advances was recorded in the International Faculty indicator, in which BEU climbed 175 places to settle at 518th position. In addition, certain improvements were observed in the International Research Network, Employment Outcomes, and Sustainability indicators.

Among the 10 of our country's universities represented in the ranking, BEU is one of the universities showing the most successful results nationally.

This year, BEU also achieved firsts in other rankings. Represented for the first time in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, BEU demonstrated notable results in 2 subject categories. The university achieved a strong result in "Petroleum Engineering" (151-175 range), while also securing a successful position in the "Economics and Econometrics" subject ranking (551-700 range). It should be noted that BEU ranks 3rd among the country's universities in the field of "Petroleum Engineering."

This year, BEU also advanced 96 places to enter the top 400 in QS's new ranking of Europe's best universities, and ranked 23rd in the region in the QS Western Asia University Rankings.

The results of the QS ranking, in addition to being one of the key indicators of the reforms being implemented in the country's higher education system, demonstrate that the measures carried out by BEU in the areas of internationalization, scientific activity, industrial cooperation, and innovation have been positively assessed at the international level. In recent years, systematic work has been carried out at the university in these areas. The development of cooperation with industry and the private sector has helped increase graduates' employment opportunities and strengthen their integration into the labor market. As a result of expanding staff access to international scientometric databases and promoting scientific activity, positive dynamics have been observed in both the quantitative and qualitative indicators of scientific productivity. The creation of modern research infrastructure and support for innovative activity have contributed to the further development of the scientific environment at the university.

Significant progress has also been recorded recently in BEU's internationalization indicators. The number of foreign students studying at the university has increased, with the number of countries they represent reaching 40. The expansion of double-degree programs with prestigious foreign universities and the acquisition of international accreditations in 6 specialties have served to strengthen the institution's international reputation.

These comprehensive measures have played an important role in improving BEU's QS ranking indicators and enhancing its international competitiveness.
