"Graduation Day" Solemnly Celebrated at BEU

"Graduation Day" for the 2025/2026 academic year was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

The graduation ceremony was attended by the university's leadership and faculty, Head of Absheron District Executive Authority Abdin Farzaliyev, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Sadig Gurbanov, MPs Rizvan Nabiyev, Elchin Mirzabayli, and Vugar Bayramov, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the NAP Absheron District Organization Abbas Aliyev, as well as graduates and their parents.

The event began with a moment of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem.

In his opening remarks, warmly congratulating the graduates, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev noted that graduation is not merely the completion of student life, but also a transition to an important life stage accompanied by new responsibilities and opportunities. He noted that the successes achieved by graduates rest not only on their determination and effort, but also on the dedicated work of their teachers and the boundless support of their parents.

The rector emphasized that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, digital transformation, innovation, and the development of highly skilled human capital have become one of the main priorities of state policy in the country. As a continuation of consistent measures in this direction, a meeting devoted to the new digital development strategy was held in February of this year under the leadership of the head of state, an Action Plan was approved, and an important Decree was signed on further improving activities in the fields of digitalization, e-government, artificial intelligence, and innovation. Noting that the priorities in this field had been widely discussed two days earlier at a meeting of the Digital Development Council, established under the Decree and chaired by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the rector stated that the training of highly qualified personnel capable of meeting modern challenges is of strategic importance. In this regard, it was noted that the opening of new specialties at BEU in recent years and the establishment of the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies represent important steps in line with the country's development priorities.

Speaking about the achievements of the university, which will mark its 10th anniversary this year, Yagub Piriyev touched on its inclusion in QS rankings over the past two years and the significant progress achieved, and highlighted the university's important accomplishments in international accreditation, internationalization, dual-degree programs, and increasing the number of foreign students.

Noting that 1,142 students graduated from BEU this year, of whom 75 were awarded diplomas with honors, the rector pointed out that the university ranks among the country's leading higher education institutions in terms of graduate employment indicators. Concluding his speech, Yagub Piriyev wished the graduates success in their future endeavors, expressing confidence that they would make significant contributions to the development of our country with the knowledge and skills they had gained.

The guests who spoke afterward — Executive Authority Head Abdin Farzaliyev, Milli Majlis Committee Chairman Sadig Gurbanov, and MPs Rizvan Nabiyev, Elchin Mirzabayli, and Vugar Bayramov — congratulated the graduates on this notable day and wished them success in their future endeavors. The speakers discussed the broad opportunities created by the state for the comprehensive development of young people in our country, their access to quality education, and their formation as professional specialists. It was noted that today's graduates, as builders of the future of an independent, strong, and victorious Azerbaijan, should direct the knowledge and skills they have gained toward the development of the country, and in particular contribute to the large-scale restoration and construction process being carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur. The speeches emphasized that will, responsibility, hard work, and purposefulness are always the key conditions for success in education. Young people were advised of the importance of constantly working on themselves, remaining open to innovation, and developing into citizens useful to society. It was also noted that higher education institutions, as important think tanks shaping the country's intellectual potential, also play a significant role in cultivating competitive human capital.

Following the speeches, a program prepared by BEU's Art and Creativity Division was presented. Within the framework of the program, the song "Azerbaijan," performed by BEU's foreign students, was received with great interest.

Afterward, certificates of honor were presented to graduates distinguished for their active participation in the university's social and public life, and the top students of each faculty and specialty, as well as the top student of the university overall, were awarded.

Zarifa Alili, a graduate of the "Computer Engineering" program and the top student of the university, spoke about how her interest in the field developed, having been admitted with a score of 626. Sharing the achievements she had gained during her studies at the university, Zarifa Alili expressed her gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the broad opportunities created for young people to receive a modern, high-quality education meeting international standards, and for the continuous attention and care shown to the development of higher education.

The event concluded with the graduates' traditional cap-tossing ceremony and performances by well-known singer Roya Mammadova (Hiss).
