Exhibition Dedicated to Work of Prominent Sculptor Omar Eldarov Held at BEU

An exhibition dedicated to the work of Omar Eldarov - distinguished representative of Azerbaijani fine arts, People's Artist, academician, and recipient of the "Istiglal," "Sharaf," and "Heydar Aliyev" orders — has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev stated that Omar Eldarov is among those artists who have rendered exceptional service in the formation and development of the modern Azerbaijani school of sculpture. His multifaceted creative work is regarded as one of the finest examples of artistic and aesthetic thinking. The rector noted that the memorial complexes of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honor — who played an irreplaceable role in the formation of the strong Azerbaijani state - brilliantly reflect his outstanding professionalism, rich creative experience in the field of monumental art, and profound artistic vision. He further noted that the monuments to Nizami, Fuzuli, Nasimi, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Huseyn Javid, Khurshidbanu Natavan, Sattar Bahlulzade, and other prominent figures occupy a special place among the most valuable and artistically significant works Omar Eldarov has created in the field of monumental art. The rector emphasized that, alongside his creative pursuits, Omar Eldarov has been an active participant in the public and cultural life of the country, and that his long years of service as rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts made an exceptional contribution to the preservation of the professional school of sculpture, the discovery of young talents, and the synthesis of national traditions with contemporary styles. He noted that the warm reception of Omar Eldarov's works beyond the borders of Azerbaijan further demonstrates that his art holds not only national but also universal value, having found its way into the hearts of people across different places and eras.

Stating that the promotion of art and humanistic thinking in engineering-oriented higher education institutions is an important component of the modern university model, the rector expressed his confidence that the exhibition of Omar Eldarov's work will serve as a valuable source of inspiration for students, young architects, designers, and art enthusiasts.

Academician Omar Eldarov expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the exhibition at BEU and highly appreciated the interest shown in his works. Emphasizing that he had approached the art of sculpture with great enthusiasm since childhood, the artist noted that he has devoted his entire life to this field and has created numerous sculptures of prominent figures throughout his creative career. The distinguished sculptor wished young architects, artists, and designers success in their future endeavors, noting that love and dedication to one's chosen profession are among the key factors of success. At the close of his remarks, he expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the organization of the exhibition and for the attention shown to his work.

Rector Yagub Piriyev then presented Omar Eldarov with a decorative artwork crafted by BEU students as a gift.
