A scientific seminar titled "The Azerbaijani Language Is the Language of Victory," dedicated to Victory Day, was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU), jointly organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy and the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Aghasi Malikov, BEU's Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, spoke about the significance of Azerbaijan's historic Victory and the main factors that led to the victory in the Patriotic War. It was noted that this Victory, achieved at the cost of the unity and solidarity of our people, the resolute leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army, the lives and blood of our martyrs, and the valor of our war veterans, has further strengthened our country's international standing and demonstrated its military-political might and national will to the entire world. This historic event is also of great importance in terms of promoting our national identity, our spiritual values, and the expressive potential of our native language.
Tarana Hajiyeva, Head of BEU's Department of Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy, delivered a presentation titled "Factors Shaping the Language of Victory in Azerbaijan." The presentation drew attention to the linguo-political aspects of the Azerbaijani language, the forms in which the concept of Victory is expressed in our language, and the interrelationship between language and historical and socio-political processes. It was noted that, during the Patriotic War, words and expressions conveying national unity, determination to fight, and the spirit of victory enriched the socio-political lexicon of our language.
A presentation by Rahman Guliyev, Senior Lecturer of the department, titled "The Artistic Expression of the Language of Victory," was then heard. Citing examples from classical and contemporary Azerbaijani literature, the presenter drew attention to the artistic and aesthetic potential of our native language and its richness in expressing national feelings and thoughts. It was noted that the Azerbaijani language possesses rich artistic means that express our people's historical memory, national spirit, joy, sorrow, and determination to win. At the end of the speech, confidence was expressed that the Azerbaijani language will continue to maintain its position as the language of Victory, culture, and the presentation of our national identity to the world.
Subhan Talibli, Associate Professor at ANAS's Institute of Oriental Studies, delivered a presentation titled "The Victory of the Azerbaijani Language in 44 Days." Presented in a historical and socio-political context, the presentation spoke about the contributions of the 44-day Patriotic War to the representation of the Azerbaijani language in the international information space and to conveying national truths to the world. Touching on issues related to the geographic spread of the Azerbaijani language and its position in the Turkic language family, the presenter emphasized the uniqueness of our language and the importance of preserving its purity. He noted the importance of preparing scientific and journalistic articles in Azerbaijani and of conveying historical truths and the history of our Victory to various audiences, and spoke about the tasks that fall particularly on the younger generation in this regard.
As part of the seminar, Khalil Rza Uluturk's poem "My Mother Tongue" was recited by Aygun Gurbanova, a second-year "Mathematics" student at BEU.
