BEU Hold Meeting with University Applicants

A meeting with university applicants on the theme "The Right Choice, A Bright Future" was organized jointly by Baku Engineering University (BEU) and the Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department. The event, attended by the leadership of the Regional Education Department, school principals from the district, upper-grade students, and BEU faculty members, opened with a tribute to the memory of our martyrs, followed by the performance of the State Anthem.

A video was then screened showcasing the university's academic environment, material and technical facilities, and achievements of recent years.

Delivering the opening remarks, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev provided detailed information about the university's history and development directions. He noted that the university, established by a relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev and celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, provides training at all levels of higher education across 4 faculties — Information and Computer Technologies, Engineering, Economics and Management, and Architecture and Construction — in both Azerbaijani and English. It was noted that over the past two years, 12 new undergraduate specializations and 14 new graduate specializations have been introduced. The Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies, established in 2024, is of particular importance in terms of strengthening the training of highly qualified personnel in the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence, data science, and innovative technologies.

The Rector highlighted that 8 new computer laboratories — including Cybersecurity, Biotechnology research and teaching laboratories — have been commissioned at BEU. It was stated that the university's more than 20 modern laboratories, as well as its Technopark, provide broad opportunities for students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical skills and bring innovative ideas to life.

Yagub Piriyev noted in his remarks that student admissions to the university in recent years have shown strong results and touched upon relevant statistical indicators. Detailed information was also provided on the international accreditation of BEU's 6 bachelor's programs for the first time and their inclusion in the database of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education, dual-degree programs implemented with higher education institutions in South Korea and China, and the newly established "BCUT-BEU Engineering Faculty" in partnership with Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The university's achievements in international rankings were also highlighted.

The Rector emphasized that information received directly by applicants at such events would help them build their future plans more clearly. Wishing the applicants success, Yagub Piriyev expressed his confidence that they would be the young people who will shape and further develop our country's future.

Speaking at the event, Ilhama Abdullayeva, Head of the Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department, stated that such meetings organized on the eve of university admissions play an important role in helping applicants make the right choice of specialty. She underscored the importance of quality higher education and professional skills for achieving success in the labor market, and praised BEU's potential in this regard.

Ali Huseynov, Chairman of the BEU Student Trade Union Committee, noted in his remarks that the university serves not only as an educational space but also as an environment that provides broad opportunities for the development of young people's leadership, responsibility, and decision-making skills, and shared with participants the achievements he had gained through his civic engagement.

A dance performance by BEU's dance ensemble was presented at the event.

At the conclusion, the applicants had the opportunity to get acquainted firsthand with the university's laboratories, Technopark, and innovative educational environment.
