BEU Begins Cooperation with China's Prestigious Fudan University

A meeting has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with a delegation from Fudan University, one of the leading higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China.
Expressing his pleasure at welcoming the guests to BEU, Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized that the relationship based on mutual trust and friendship between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping plays a crucial role in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, including the successful development of ties in education and science.
Providing detailed information about the university and also highlighting that BEU attaches particular importance to expanding cooperation with Chinese higher education institutions, the rector stated that these relations are of great significance in terms of student and faculty exchange, joint scientific research, dual degree programs, as well as innovation projects. Emphasizing the successful cooperation launched this year with Beijing University of Chemical Technology under a dual degree program, Yagub Piriyev expressed his confidence that relations with Fudan University will also make a significant contribution to strengthening scientific potential, expanding international experience, and training highly qualified personnel.
Subsequently, the delegation representing Fudan University and the head of the project cooperation group, Ms. Tian Xiaohong, expressed her satisfaction with the relations established with BEU as the first among Azerbaijani universities, as well as with the warm reception, and shared her most pleasant impressions of Baku. In the presentation about Fudan University, it was noted that the higher education institution, founded in 1905 and located in Shanghai, is one of China's most prestigious research universities, possesses strong academic and research potential in engineering, information technology, AI, biomedicine, and other scientific fields, and is ranked 30th among the world's best higher education institutions in the QS 2026 rankings.
During discussions with the delegation, an exchange of views was held on the implementation of joint projects in the fields of engineering, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, energy and sustainable development, as well as further deepening academic and scientific relations. Agreement was reached on continuing mutual cooperation and taking practical steps in specific areas.
Within the framework of the meeting, memoranda of understanding were signed between BEU and Fudan University, as well as the university's Zhangjiang Institute and Zhongshan Translational Research Center for Immunotherapy Technologies.
