BEU Mark 103rd Birth Anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev

An event was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) to mark the 103rd birth anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

At the event, the cherished memory of the Great Leader was honored with a minute of silence, the State Anthem was performed, and a short film reflecting the life and activities of the distinguished statesman was screened.

BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev stated in his address that Heydar Aliyev, who rendered exceptional services in building a modern and powerful Azerbaijan, was a rare historical figure who played a decisive role in the country's development as a secular and independent state. Through his successful political career, demonstrated resolve, principled stance, and purposefulness, the National Leader became the architect of the sustainable political course that forms the foundation of Azerbaijani statehood. His immense contributions to the country's advancement elevated the name of this unique individual — one who transcended his era — to a distinguished position among world political leaders. The Rector spoke on the historical chronology of Heydar Aliyev's leadership of Azerbaijan, highlighting the achievements attained in the economic, political, and cultural spheres under difficult ideological conditions. He noted that with the National Leader's return to political power in 1993, a new chapter opened in Azerbaijan's life: chaos and civil conflict were eliminated, stability was established, and critical strategic decisions were made. A ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan was achieved, the signing of the "Contract of the Century" laid the groundwork for economic growth, and the country's international standing was enhanced. As a result of this policy, state independence was consolidated, military capacity was strengthened, and dynamic development was ensured across all sectors. It was also emphasized that Azerbaijan's current achievements and the full restoration of sovereignty are the successful outcome of the political course charted by the National Leader — a course being resolutely carried forward today by President Ilham Aliyev.

Sadig Gurbanov, Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Milli Majlis, stated that the statehood ideology shaped by National Leader Heydar Aliyev represented a sophisticated governance model rooted in the national and moral values, historical memory, and national unity of the Azerbaijani people. It was noted that this political legacy forms the foundation not only of Azerbaijan's present development, but also of its future successes.

Deputy Hikmat Mammadov emphasized that it is precisely Heydar Aliyev's far-sighted policy that underpins modern and powerful Azerbaijan. He stated that creating a political school and a sustainable statehood strategy is not given to every leader. Heydar Aliyev, through his work, succeeded in forging a solid political legacy that safeguarded the national interests of the people and defined the future of the state.

Deputy Vugar Rahimzade highlighted the significant steps taken by the National Leader in the areas of the country's economic development and the training of national military personnel. He noted that through the implementation of energy projects, Azerbaijan achieved considerable economic success, the country's military potential was further strengthened, and as a result, its territories were liberated from occupation.

Deputy Rizvan Nabiyev stated that the foundation of Azerbaijan's achievements rests on Heydar Aliyev's statehood strategy and successful foreign policy course. He noted that as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's successful continuation of this political course, Azerbaijan achieved a great military Victory, new realities were shaped in the region, and the country's international standing was further consolidated.

Bakhtiyar Asgarov, Head of the Permanent Representation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Baku, also addressed the event, saying that the people's need for Heydar Aliyev's statesmanship experience and political legacy becomes ever more apparent with the passage of time. He stated that the great personality will forever live on in the memory, national consciousness, and history of the Azerbaijani people.

At the conclusion of the event, party membership cards were presented to newly admitted members of the New Azerbaijan Party.
