The events have started within the framework of the "Science Week" organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU). The first event took place at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Dean of the Faculty, associate professor Mayis Azizov said that the main purpose of the event was to analyze the state of scientific activity of the faculty in 2020. Stressing the importance and significance of scientific activity, the dean stressed that most of the faculty teachers were active in this field.
Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs of the Faculty, Ph.D. in Economics Farid Jabiyev made a presentation on the results of scientific activity last year. He said that the research activities of the faculty included the application of the results of research work in the teaching process, as well as the publication of monographs, scientific articles, teaching aids, reports at scientific conferences and seminars.
Touching upon scientific activities, the deputy dean noted that 18 people were trained in PhD programs. In 2020, faculty members published 3 monographs and 96 subject programs.
F.Jabiyev said that the number of articles published by faculty members in 2020 was 44 (18 in Azerbaijan and 26 abroad). 11 articles of the faculty staff were published on the Web of Science platform in 2018, 15 in 2019, and 20 in 2020. In addition, 6 conference materials of faculty members, indexed on the Web of Science platform in 2020, were published.
Noting that March 27 is marked as "Science Day" by the Order of President, the Deputy Dean added that a number of measures are traditionally taken at the faculty every year for the popularization and development of science.
Speaking about the inclusion of university staff in the publications of international scientific journals with many impact factors, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Associate Professor Elchin Suleymanov added that BEU ranked second in Azerbaijan in terms of scientific indicators in the Publons database of the popular Web of Science portal. He noted the rules and procedures for awarding employees of BEU, whose works had been published in prestigious scientific publications. The Vice-Rector briefed the participants on the effective use of the Web of Science and Scopus databases, as well as the opening of an individual researcher profile.
The event ended with answering the questions of the participants.
