Project implementation granted by Ministry of Education to BEU accelerates

Baku Engineering University (BEU) has been training engineers in Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering at the undergraduate level (education is in English) within the Dual Degree Program implemented jointly with INHA University of South Korea since 2020. Training specialists in these specialties requires the establishment of teaching laboratories in many subjects, equipping them with modern devices and equipment, the development of subject programs and teaching materials.

To ensure the successful execution of these tasks, the Ministry of Education allocated a grant to BEU for the implementation of the project "Creation of new content and organization of teaching in “Electricity and Electronics” groups at the undergraduate level. Procurement of laboratory equipment and devices will be carried out at the expense of fund allocated under the project. Furthermore, curricula of 15 vocational and specialty subjets (7 electrical, 7 electronics, 1 management), learning and teaching materials included in the syllabus of "Electrical and Electronics Engineering" Department carrying out specialist training in the Azerbaijani language will be prepared and published. Conducting trainings for academic staff on the preparation of materials and administrative staff on the organization of education are also among the measures to be implemented.

Currently, the work planned within the project is being carried out in accordance with the provisions of the agreement signed between the Ministry of Education and BEU in November 2021 and registered with the Ministry of Economy. Furthermore, the "Work Action Plan" was approved at the Department of Automation and Electroenergetics, a working group was established, as well as leading specialists of the department were fully involved in the implementation of the work to be done.

During the period, the project management staff was formed, the necessary equipment and devices for the supply of teaching and research laboratories were selected and ordered, and specific tasks were set for the staff to develop curriculum and teaching materials.

Over the next few months, it is envisaged to develop and approve these programs and materials, conduct trainings for academic and administrative staff on the organization of classes in the next academic year, purchase the ordered equipment and devices and prepare them for use in laboratories, and order additional equipment. The Ministry of Education also plans to allocate laboratory rooms for the placement of this equipment in the new educational building being built on BEU campus and to be completed soon.

Significant support of the Ministry of Education for the Dual Degree Program implemented at BEU will enable to establish education infrastructure that can make a valuable contribution to highly qualified specialists training with modern knowledge, skills and competencies to work in the country's fast-growing energy sector.
