Dear memory of the patriots that became martyrs in the battles on the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of our country has been commemorated with a minute of silence, afterwards National Anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic was played.

The BEU rector, professor Havar Mammadov who made a keynote speech after the video about the history of victory path was demonstrated, highlighted that 44-day patriotic war is the brightest page that will remain in the history of our state as well as in the memory of each Azerbaijani forever.  The rector who underscored with historical facts to the audience that President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the work on the solution of the most painful problem of Azerbaijan National Leader Haydar Aliyev once started, also mentioned that the way to the victory wasn’t easy.

The rector who said that victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev changed the progress of the history that had been going on for centuries with his personal qualities, perseverance and determination, and our brave Azerbaijani army restored our territorial integrity, noted all the world witnessed the power of our country and its army that achieved rapid development. Havar Mammadov also added that Azerbaijan ensured its territorial integrity on its own, with the blood and lives of its hero patriots, and today our glorious flag is being waved in our historical lands, and huge construction work is being implemented.

The rector who mentioned that war crimes of the enemy that were intended to disrupt our unity, break the spirit of the nation in the 44-day war, couldn’t oppress the determination or will of our people, touched upon the fact that Azerbaijan demonstrated a real national solidarity and unity. Havar Mammadov that focused on the fact that the attained victory is the glory of Azerbaijan’s triumph in military, diplomatic and political arena stated that the memory of our martyrs will live in our hearts forever and the next generations will always remember them with honour and pride. The rector who specified that we celebrate the anniversary of our victory as a winner nation expressed his best wishes upon the Victory Day which is the salvation page of our national pride.

Talking about the historical victory our nation accomplished with far-sighted policy, brave decisions and resolution of victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, Irada Gulmammadova, the head of Absheron Region Executive Power pointed out that Azerbaijani army completed honorable mission in only 44 days in the battles that required great professionalism, courage and self-sacrifice. I. Gulmammadova who stated that the operation of liberation of Shusha from occupation became one of the brightest pages of the world war history mentioned that she is obliged to our martyrs, veterans and our army in general for the victory.

Jeyhun Mammadov, the MP of the Milli Majlis highlighted that our army won a magnificient victory under the leadership of victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the 44-day patriotic war, our lands that were under occupation for about 30 years were liberated, our territorial integrity was restored, spoke of the processes happening during the war and the heroisms manifested by hero Azerbaijani patriots. The MP who mentioned that our nation celebrates the anniversary of our historical victory with a great pride and festivity talked about the rapid construction and restoration work conducted in the liberated areas shortly after the victory, also the obligations of the young generation.

Bilman Valiyev, the chair of the Absheron District Organisation of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) noted that 8 November the day when Shusha, the pearl of Karabakh was liberated from occupation was written in our history in golden letters and this victory will remain in the history of Azerbaijan and in the memory of present and future generations forever. B. Valiyev who spoke of historical mission of National Leader Haydar Aliyev in detail highlighted the work carried out during the power of President Ilham Aliyev in the next stage, also expressed that everybody was united as an “iron fist” on a single goal during the 44-day patriotic war and we won a historical victory.

Then a video about the battle track of the veteran Parviz Aliyev, BEU graduate who took part and became heavily wounded in 44-day patriotic war and was awarded with the medals for the liberation of Fuzuli and Shusha was demonstrated. Veteran Parviz Aliyev who participated at the event shared his impressions about his battle track.

Afterwards, Maleyke Aligizi, Ph.D in Art History made a speech and performed a poem about Karabakh. 

The event went on with the feature part organised by the creative director Zamina Akhundova, Ph.D in Art History, head of the department of the Creative Arts at BEU.
