The results of one of the world's most prestigious rankings, the "QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025", were announced in Baku within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Baku Engineering University (BEU) ranked fourth among Azerbaijani universities in the QS sustainability ranking. Last year, only 2 local higher education institutions were represented in the ranking, this year for the first time 7 higher education institutions of our country - Baku State University (941-950), Azerbaijan State University of Economics (1081-1100), Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (1351-1400), Baku Engineering University (1451-1500), Azerbaijan Technical University (1501+), Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (1501+) and Khazar University (1501+).

At the event organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), the rector of BEU Yagub Piriyev was presented with the “World University Rankings: Sustainability Ranking 2025” certificate. It should be noted that BEU has carried out systematic work in recent years to promote sustainable development and has taken important steps in its environmental strategy. The university has implemented a number of measures in the areas of “Energy Efficiency”, “Sustainable Transport System”, “Waste Reduction and Recycling”, “Transition to Sustainable Food Systems”, etc., making significant contributions to eliminating the problems caused by global climate change, reducing waste through the use of renewable energy sources, and minimizing and sorting waste within the campus for recycling. Solar panels and wind turbines have been installed on the territory of the university, as well as targeted work is being carried out to develop and protect green areas on the campus. Significant achievement of BEU in the "QS Sustainability Ranking 2025" is the successful result of all this work.
