BEU hosts master class on financial programming for students

A master class on "Financial Programming and Artificial Intelligence" has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Speaking at the event, Professor Damat Bagirov, Head of the Finance and Accounting Department, noted that for the first time, financial programming was taught both theoretically and practically for students of the Faculty of Economics and Management of BEU. The framework of financial programming was built on the Excel database, and a laboratory auditorium was selected for experimental operations. Here, students are given empirical training on the essence, framework, experimental operations, as well as results of financial programming. Adding to his views that financial programming is a research and analysis field that plays an important role in implementing the state's macroeconomic policy directions, D. Bagirov emphasized that empirical operations are carried out separately for each sector in programming, data analysis, as well as policy simulations are developed, and short, medium and long-term policy frameworks and strategies are prepared based on these simulations.

Later, the associate professor of the department Aganemat Aghayev made a speech and mentioned that the development of financial programs arose from a natural necessity, and that although there were simple calculation programs in the past, big data analysis and artificial intelligence are applied in modern times. He added that this practical knowledge would allow participants, including students, to acquire the skills of systematization and analysis of macroeconomic money and financial flows across sectors (real, fiscal, monetary and external sectors), especially modeling and forecasting based on basic macroeconomic hypotheses (for example, export prices of crude oil and natural gas, exchange rates, accounting, tax rates, etc.).

At the end of the master class, which discussed the role of artificial intelligence in teaching financial science, the questions of interest to the participants were clarified.
