BEU hosts International Collegiate Programming Contest

Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted the quarter-final stage of the "49th ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest". 

The competition was organized by BEU, which is the host of ICPC in Azerbaijan, and ADA University, with the support of Innovation and Digital Development Agency. 51 teams each consisting of 3 students and 1 leader from 22 higher educational institutions of the republic took part in the competition.

Giving a speech at the opening ceremony, the dean of the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies of BEU, Professor Vagif Gasimov gave information about the wide material, technical and educational base created for the education of IT students at the university. Moreover, he noted that BEU hosts various such events and competitions, appropriate conditions are created for holding competitions at a high level, wishing success to the participants.

At the event, the head of the department of Karabakh University that participated in the competition for the first time, associate professor Ramil Mammadli and the chairman of the jury of ICPC Azerbaijan, professor of ADA University Fuad Hajiyev spoke and wished the teams success in the competition.

Later, the Regional Director and Coordinator of ICPC Azerbaijan, Etibar Seyidzada, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Information Technologies and Programming of BEU, and Chairman of the Technical Committee, Rauf Suleymanli, Electronic System Administrator of BEU, informed about the participation of Azerbaijani higher education institutions in this competition, achieved successes and technical issues.

The teams that were successful in the competition and advanced to the semi-finals will participate in the semi-final stage of the "49th ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest" to be held in Georgia on December 13-15, 2024 and in the South Caucasus open championship (team and individual).
