Chinara Hajiyeva, a teacher at the Department of Mathematics of the Education Faculty of the Baku Engineering University (BEU), and Afag Rzayeva, a teacher at the Department of Chemistry and Biology, have successfully defended their doctoral dissertations.
The defense of the dissertation was organized at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in accordance with the conditions of the pandemic.
At the next meeting of the dissertation council ED 1.04 (partially visually, but also remotely), Chinara Hajiyeva defended her dissertation for PhD. In Mathematics on "Approximations of hypersingular integral operators and their applications" in 1202.01-Analysis and functional analysis specialty.
The scientific supervisor of Ch. Hajiyeva was doctor of mathematical sciences, associate professor Rashid Aliyev. After the presentation of the dissertation, the official opponents and members of the council expressed their positive views. The work submitted later was approved by a vote.
Moreover, at the meeting of the dissertation council ED 1.26, A.Rzayeva, lecturer at BEU, defended her dissertation for PhD. in Biology on "Floristic analysis of juniper (Juniperus L.) in Azerbaijan, the introduction of some species in Absheron" in "Botany" specialty. The dissertation work submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology was carried out in the laboratory "Introduction and acclimatization of trees and shrubs" of the ANAS Institute of Dendrology under the guidance of corresponding member of ANAS, professor Elshad Gurbanov.
The dissertation is devoted to the study of juniper (Juniperus L.) plant found on low-slope slopes, rocks, dry and rocky areas in Azerbaijan. The studied plant is the main component of arid sparse forests, which are of exceptional importance in the efficient use and protection of soil and plant resources of the republic. For this reason, the dissertation examines the distribution areas of juniper forests, changes in distribution areas, sequence plant groups and species composition of these groups, as well as the dependence of the floristic composition of sequence plant groups on environmental factors.
