About Department

The “Mechanical Engineering” Department was established in 2011 within the framework of the joint project “Expansion of the Engineering School” between BP Azerbaijan and the former Qafqaz University, and it was reorganized in 2016 with the establishment of BMU.

Currently, the department offers training in 3 (three) bachelor’s degree programs and 2 (two) master’s degree programs with 6 (six) specializations.

The department operates 12 teaching and research laboratories equipped with modern high-technology machinery and devices. The equipment is extensively used in the learning process, allowing students to perform experiments, make structural modifications to setups, and apply results both in coursework and scientific research.

Laboratories in the Mechanical Engineering Department:

The department currently offers over 90 courses, including: Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics, Thermodynamics, Heat Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Systems Design, Dynamic System Modeling and Simulation, Machine Elements and Design Fundamentals, Lifting and Conveying Machinery, Theory of Machines and Mechanisms, CAD/CAM Systems in Manufacturing, Advanced Engineering Thermodynamics, Quality Assurance in Maintenance, Research Methods, Research Analytics, CAD/CAM-CAE Systems, Computer Diagnostics and Service of Machines and Components, Equipment and Tools for Repair and Service, Heating and Cooling Systems, Pipeline Calculation and Design, and more.

The current head of the Mechanical Engineering Department is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mahir Bashirov.
