Scientific Seminar on Seismic Resilience of Critical Infrastructure Facilities Held at BEU
January 13, 2026
A scientific seminar dedicated to assessing the seismic resilience of critical infrastructure facilities was held at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of Baku Engineering University (BEU).
At the seminar, Shahin Huseynli, a doctoral candidate in Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, delivered a presentation on his research work on this topic. He specifically addressed the seismic resistance of low-quality reinforced concrete structures and strategic facilities such as wind turbines and nuclear reactors.
During the presentation, it was stated that the research was conducted based on experimental tests, analytical and numerical modeling methods, taking into account soil-structure interaction. The results of the research are of practical significance in terms of enhancing the safety of critical infrastructure facilities located in areas with high seismic risk.
The seminar was held in an interactive discussion format, with participants' questions answered and an exchange of ideas conducted on the topic.
It should be noted that Shahin Huseynli is pursuing his doctoral education within the framework of the State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023. Upon completion of his studies, he aims to engage in scientific and practical activities in the direction of enhancing the seismic resilience of Azerbaijan's critical infrastructure.
