A round table dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been organized by the Department of Social Sciences of Baku Engineering University (BEU) on the topic of "Heydar Aliyev's ideology of Azerbaijaniism".

After the dear memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with a minute of silence, a video depicting the life and activities of the Great Leader was demonstrated.

Bayram Huseynzada, vice-rector for educational affairs of BEU, emphasized in his speech that behind the today's success of our independent country is the wise and thought-out strategy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He noted that the highest stage of development in the history of Azerbaijan was during the 34-year leadership of the Great Leader. Noting the resolute steps taken by the National Leader, who returned to power at the request of the people in 1993 and undertook the rescue mission, the vice-rector said that thanks to successful domestic and foreign policies, our country was saved from chaos and Azerbaijan entered a new stage of development.

Emphasizing the outstanding services of the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev in the formation and development of the ideology of Azerbaijanism, the vice-rector mentioned that President Ilham Aliyev, the successor of the political and moral legacy of the National Leader, attached great importance to the role of the ideology of Azerbaijanism in strengthening the strategy of statehood, and drew attention to the work done in this direction.

Speaking about the importance of events held at the university in connection with the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader, Bayram Huseynzada highlighted the importance of constantly studying and promoting the legacy of Heydar Aliyev.

Later, Head of the Department of Social Sciences Humeyra Mustafayeva made a speech on "National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the ideology of Azerbaijaniism". Speaking about the great services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the country and the people, H. Mustafayeva emphasized the historical role of the ideology of Azerbaijanism formed and developed by the outstanding statesman. The speaker added that this ideology defines Azerbaijan's special place in the modern world and creates a solid foundation for the solidarity of Azerbaijanis around the world.

Paying attention to Heydar Aliyev's unparalleled services to the culture, science, and education of Azerbaijan, H. Mustafayeva noted that the declaration of the Azerbaijani language as the state language, the implementation of the relevant law, the celebration of poets' and writers' anniversaries, the mass publication of his works, national-spiritual values, customs the steps taken in the direction of preserving traditions are related to the name of Heydar Aliyev.

Other speakers spoke about the historical services rendered by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the country and the people, and the steps he took in the direction of strengthening our statehood.
